ONI.au informed the Arma community in the BIS forums AACF released an updated version of their soundmod at the ausarma.com website.
This soundmod is based on Fromz's FFAM mod with permission.
Quote ONI.au : The AACF sound mod was released recently.
This mod is a combination of Fromz's original work in the FFAM mod (was
editted with his permission and help) ,many hours of pouring over sound
banks and many hours of editing and testing.
Some of the items that were fixed:
* ricochets and bullet impact sounds
* bullet flyby sounds
* some engine sounds
I hope you all like this update....now about that holiday.....

The Bushwars mod have released a new version of their Alouette III at their website.
Quote ObmaR : Our new Alouette III pack is finally completed. After the first
beta release and all the feedback I received regarding bugs and texture
problems. I completely reworked the Alouette III models as the
originals where made with the old O2 tool. Added lots of small detail
and enhanced the model textures as well as the bump mapping. I also
completely remade the rotor section based on actual photos. The rest of
the model I tried to keep as accurate as possible while keeping the
poly count as low as possible. I think I have the right balance and I
made them specifically with ArmAII in mind. I have included 4 versions
of the Alouette III AS316/B as used by the South African Airforce
during the Bush War:
* The G-car version with 7.62mm FNMAG for insertion and extraction in Fire Force and COIN operations
* The K-car Gunship version with 20mm Ga1 cannon includes AP and HE rounds
* The Alouette III AS316/B in Search & Rescue configuration with wench.
* The Missile Gunship version with 2 X AS12 Stand-of-Missiles. Includes a laser designator with a 2000 meters LOS to target
Quote ObmaR : The Pumas have also been updated and all the bugs have been fixed.
I reworked the Bump Mapping to give the Pumas more depth and detail .
also reworked the filters and some other minor alterations and texture
fixes. I completely retexture and normal mapped the panel to fix the
transparency problem. The SAAF roundels are not visible and if mission
makers wish to have them visible please refer to the included readme
files.
The long anticpated release of the Cold War Rearmed project has come to bear fruit today. The CWR Team released a demo version of the modification for Armed Assault. The demo from CWR includes the island Malden which was completely remade with ArmA quality vegitation and buildings. CWR also includes new West and East units and many other objects from Operation Flashpoint.
-=[Rocco]=- posted a question regarding the upcoming patch 1.09 in the BIS forums. Suma, ArmA Lead Programmer, was kind enough to give a clear explanation why we are still waiting for this patch.
Quote: Suma What is taking is so long is especially VoN fixes and anticheat measures. Both need quite large scale testing with external (voluntary) testers involved, which makes turnaround time for any changes in both areas quite long.
Still, the patch is progressing quite well and hopefully there will be at least a public beta within a few weeks.
Ok, just a quick update! :)
Codemasters have released the first trailer (HD version below) from Operation Flashpoint 2, and seems to be purely designed to wet gamers appetites and leave us wanting more. And as you'll see, it does that extremely well! :)
Coming in 2008 for major console platforms and PC, Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising marks the long-awaited return of the total conflict simulator.
Andrew Wafer, Brand Manager for Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising, at Codemasters explains, set on a vast oil-rich island, located off the eastern coast of Russia, north of Japan, Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising's fiction occurs during a time of tension between Russia and China over the island's disputed ownership.
The game will open as Chinese forces launch an offensive and, as the title suggests, the dragon rises over the island, players will find themselves in a situation that is set to flare up into a flashpoint like never before.
As depicted in the trailer*, soldiers, weaponry and military transportation will be authentic and realistically detailed. The game environment will be a comprehensive simulation of a real world location, densely packed to create a rich and challenging tactical environment.
*As Yuhin pointed out in his forum thread, the soldiers in the trailer seem to be US, so where do they fit in?
